siblings in a Maryland lavender field | Frederick MD family photographer

This stunning lavender bloom field family photo session in Frederick Maryland’s own Springfield Manor is one of my favorite traditions each year. Signaling the beginning of summer to me, these fragrant blooms shine in the most lovely purple and green hues, making the perfect backdrop for family photos at sunset. People ask me each year is this in Maryland? With total disbelief as it looks out of France or some exotic location – but yes this is right here at home in Frederick Maryland! I love all of the little boutique farms and specialized crops that our town produces, and adore that they offer these special places for us to spend some time on and photograph beautiful families like this one!

This was a perfect summer sunset there! The lavender bloom field was in full glory, which made for a perfect summer evening with these sweet boys. I loved their outfits, and they loved smelling the flowers, seeing the cool bees flying around pollinating, and running through the meadow and vineyard nearby. This family was so beautiful together and we had such a special night enjoying these stunning lavender fields together.

stunning newborn baby brother | Washington DC Newborn Photographer

This stunning newborn baby brother in studio newborn session was the perfect way to end the year! I’ve been photographing this beautiful family for a couple years, and this special baby brother was incredible for his newborn session and I loved how excited big sister was too. This beautiful mama wore one of my studio wardrobe dresses and big sister had brought a really special star dress with loads of sparkle and shine. The stunning newborn baby brother was super sleepy for parts of the session and then wide awake with great eye contact for other times. I love how the session was filled with neutral color tones and lots of white and cream, but also included pale blue and grey to add some color and texture.

Space birthday 1st year cake smash | Maryland baby photographer

One year goes by so quickly – especially when viewed through the eyes of a new baby! This sweet baby boy was just in my studio seemingly yesterday (even though it was a year ago) for his amazing newborn session. This year we celebrated him turning 1 and it was such an awesome experience for his birthday fun! We started outside in the prettiest spring day, wearing gorgeous colors and clothing, to celebrate his spring birthday. Then we came inside and did some beautiful neutral images in my all white studio, and then ended with the super fun space cake smash. The parents brought in some fun balloons to show off their space/planet themed birthday party, and the cake smash worked out great!

Quarantine newborn session | Northern Virignia baby photographer

This post has been a long time coming – as it was one of my most memorable I’ve had in all my years being a photographer. As all of you know, my business (along with the rest of the world) was shut down in April of 2020, due to Covid-19. I’ll never forget talking to this mama who had just brought home her new baby, and we were supposed to have our photo session the week of April 15th. We both decided to “put it off for 2 weeks” and meet up after this whole “virus thing passed us”. HA. What an unfunny, insane joke looking back now. Needless to say, months went by before I was able to legally work again, and this baby’s newborn session was my first session back after closing my doors for months. We were all a bit nervous about how this would work, going into their home for the first time as well as photographing a now 3 month old baby as a newborn. I had photographed all three of their older siblings as their newborn sessions, so this was the ideal family to give this new situation a go. Like most things in life, this session ended up turning out as one of my favorites I’ve ever done. The older newborn wasn’t an issue at all – and we got all of the cute naked baby poses that we typically do at fresh born newborn sessions. We also got to incorporate all of the sweet sibling photos and family photos we traditionally do. This quarantine newborn session during the beginning days Covid-19 will always stay with me, as a reminder that life moves on whether we want it to or not, and that these memories we preserve are just as important as ever. This mom told me as I was leaving, “I could give up my restaurants and travel, but I can’t give up my photographs!” I agree mama, I agree!

Northern Virginia lifestyle newborn | modern family photographer

I adored this in home Northern Virginia lifestyle newborn photo session as it combined the beauty of a spectacularly decorated home with the adorableness of a new baby boy. This sweet family welcomed their first baby boy into their gorgeous home and I was so excited to capture it all! The gorgeous mama wore one of my studio dresses, and had her hair done up in a super cute side braid. Dad was so loving and adorable with his new family of three, and so very proud! Sweet baby L was spectacular and so much fun to photograph, and even flashed me a couple of sweet smiles. We used a few textured throw blankets from around the home, and highlighted the beautiful window light around their gorgeous Mclean VA home. I love going into my client’s homes in Northern VA for lifestyle newborn sessions since we can incorporate some of the nursery decor, and highlight each family’s individual style and decor. This Northern Virginia lifestyle newborn session was so fun and special and I can’t wait to share!

Baby Sister Four Brothers | Frederick MD Newborn Photographer

This Frederick MD in studio newborn session was absolutely epic! I’ve been photographing this beautiful family for a couple years, and this special baby sister was their fifth baby and first girl! This beautiful mama is the owner of the incredible bridal store in Frederick, MD called Posh Bridal, so you know having a baby girl after all these cute boys was a special surprise! Mama chose a dress from my studio wardrobe, and the focus while on baby girl, was hard to not get excited about the whole group of five siblings together. These four brothers were super sweet and protective and loving with their baby sister. They had some sweet and fun ideas to do so they brought little nerf guns and some fun props to include, as their dad is a US Marine and they got to act like little soldiers protecting her. Baby T was so perfect and beautiful, and did absolutely amazing for her photos. I loved photographing this amazing family so much!

I adored this in home Washington DC newborn lifestyle photo session as it combined the beauty of a spectacularly decorated home with the love of an amazing family. This little brother’s newborn session was the second time I had photographed in this DC home, as the first was when I photographed his big brother’s newborn session a few years ago. I loved getting to meet their new baby boy, and see this amazing family again. Their home is a photographer’s dream home with architectural details everywhere you look, and beautiful decor surrounding each room. This little brother had the sweetest face, beautiful long brown hair and lashes, and the best personality. His big brother was smitten with him too, and loved being a part of the session together. I love getting to photograph in home Washington DC newborn lifestyle sessions since it’s so cozy and relaxed being in a home together. Getting to be creative with a new space is always fun too, and this family made it easy with beautiful window seats, amazing natural light, and pops of fun colors throughout their home.

In Studio Newborn Session | Washington DC Family Photographer

This Frederick MD in studio newborn session was absolutely stunning! I’ve been photographing this beautiful family for a couple years! I photographed them initially for new big brother’s newborn session a few years ago, and it was so fun to have them back to Frederick for their new baby girl’s newborn photo session. This beautiful mama’s red hair stole the show, and we kept the rest of the colors soft and neutral to keep the focus on their sweet baby girl and their love for each other. I love when my clients come from Northern Virginia and Washington DC to my Frederick Maryland studio as they get to drive while their new baby usually falls asleep, and we can roll right into sleepy baby images. It works out great and mama can browse through my studio wardrobe dresses and pick out what she wants to wear for the family portion of the session after baby begins to wake a bit. In studio newborn sessions always end up being really peaceful and sometimes is the first outing that families have with their new baby, and in this case their family of 4. I loved photographing this amazing family so much!

Frederick Studio Baby Session | colorful and bright

This gorgeous family came to my studio for a white and bright indoor session to celebrate their baby’s birthday as well as their early months in their pregnancy with their second baby!! I was obsessed with the colorful and bright vibrant feel this session took on, and the smiles and laughter were surrounding us all. This age is so fun and sweet with lots of cuddles and love, but giggles and airplane rides make lots of appearances too. I loved making this session a joyful and colorful and bright experience with this lovely family, and we created such gorgeous images for them to display in their beautiful home.
